HALBERTON PARISH COUNCIL

The purpose of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (“the Act”) is to promote greater openness by central and local government. The Publication Scheme is one of the statutory requirements of the Act.

The new Publication Scheme covers:

* Who we are and what we do
* What we spend and how we spend it
* What our priorities are and how we are doing
* How we make decisions
* Our policies and procedures
* Lists and registers
* The services we offer

It includes information on accessing:
* Everything we have a legal duty to publish
* Information we already publish
* Information which we will provide on request

The Publication Scheme is available below and then follow the relevant links.

If you can’t find the information you want in the Publication Scheme then you may ask for it. The Council then has to tell you whether it holds the information and give it to you (as long as it is not one of the exemptions contained within the Act). Normally we will have to give you the information you want within 20 working days.

Requests for paper copies of the information are available at 5p per copy, but most information is available within this web site at no charge. Where fees do apply and how they are calculated are set out on the fees page (Click `Policy and Procedures` page Link) and if a fee is payable it must be paid in advance and if it is not paid within 3 months then the request will lapse and the Council will not have to respond.

To ask for information please email the Clerk on christine@halberton.org or via the address or phone number at the end of this information sheet.
Please include the following details:
* Your name and address (and phone number if you want)
* How you would like us to contact you if there is a query (for example via e-mail or telephone)
* The information or documents you would like to access
* The way you would like the information to be sent to you (for example on paper or via e-mail)

Most information that the Council holds is available to you subject to a number of exemptions contained within the Act. If an exemption applies we will tell you which exemption that is, why it applies and how we took that decision.

If you are not satisfied with the way we handle your request, with the fee charged, or with the reasons we have given for refusing to provide information, you have the right to appeal. (Click onto the link for `Policies and Procedure Page` for details of complaints procedure)
